I see the porkers who run Toronto city council just voted themselves a 9% pay raise that will see their annual salaries jump past $100,000 next year, not including fat expense accounts. That should cheer their champagne socialist buddies over on Toronto Island who recently had The Docks entertainment centre almost shut down because the noise was preventing them from enjoying their Yanni CDs. They may still succeed.
When was the last time you got a 9% raise? How many of you earn more than 100 grand? I wouldn’t mind them earning that much if they were half-way competent, but the majority are a bunch of leftist loonies who spend public money like there was no end to it.
I don’t live in Toronto so why should I care? Well, because tens of millions of our tax dollars are sent to Hogtown every year to help them with their social programs, like counting street bums and providing nice parkettes for crack whores.
If you live in the 905 area, you’re also a paying sucker, so you should be screaming along with the rest of us. Unless you support street bums and crack whores that is.
Anyway, to put things in perspective, the council members on my town council earn less than $20,000 a year and actually make sensible decisions. They also work hard and return phone calls. Try to get one of T.O.’s council piggies to do that.
I expect the majority of brain-dead voters in Toronto will re-elect his elegance David Miller next November for a brand new four-year term. Look, if we elect John Tory premier next year (and I sincerely hope we do), one of the first things he should do is take over Toronto, fire the council and administer it through a team of hand-picked trustees who will run the city like a business.
If we don’t take drastic action, Toronto is on its way to hell in a handbasket and that will hit us all in the wallet when we have to bail them out.
Could not agree with you more. In fact if I was sitting on that council I would be ashamed!
The problem is that in order to fix this, someone needs to make radical decision. Certainly will not happen with that group.
Hopefully in November the voting public will remember!!
