On Tuesday, June 20th you can view the International Space Station from the Greater Toronto Area. The ISS will be visible starting at 10:34 PM low in the west. Look for a moving "star" that will move upwards and towards the north. The space station will be at it's highest visible point in the north northwest at 10:37 PM. At that point it will be about a third of the way up from the horizon. The ISS will continue in its arc towards the Northeast, eventually fading from view about 20 degrees from the northeast horizon.
This is just one of many passes over the next few days. The International Space Station circles at about 350 kilometres above the Earth and completes each orbit in roughly 90 minutes. When you are looking up, don't forget to wave. The astronauts just might be looking down at you!
